Here is a word puzzle for my literate friends (I do have a few).  Starting with the first word in the list below, change one letter at a time to eventually arrive at the last word in the list.  Each step along the way must also be a word in the English-speaking world, as befits the subject of this puzzle.

It will take you seven steps to transform TRUMP into CLUNK, but the outcome will as rewarding as it is inevitable.  This is not (entirely) a joke!  Have fun, and be the first on your block to post the answer.

                 TRUMP ----- ----- -----

                 ----- ----- ----- CLUNK

In the interest of being interesting, I am going to try something new.  Now and again, I will be posting a set of similarly-themed photos under the title “Shots at Large.”  By analogy to my “Thoughts at Large” posts, this will let me share my photos in a more casual context.

The theme of this edition is plant life.  As a photographer, I don’t think there is much to add to the visual treat that plants offer — the key is figuring out how not to ruin it, and as always the answer is lighting, lighting, lighting.

Move your cursor over the photo to pause the show, and click on the photo to see a larger version in a new tab.  There are nine images. [wppa type=”slide” album=”2″ size=”620″ align=”center”]Shots at Large[/wppa][wppa_set name=”wppa_slideshow_timeout” value=”5000″][/wppa_set]

The 100 Billionth Pilsener Explore Asheville says that the little town I live in,  including its coves and hollers, has twenty-one craft breweries.  I decided it is time to make it an even twenty-two.  So I am pleased to announce the very latest and certainly greatest arrival on the Asheville brew scene: The 100 Billionth Pilsener.

The 100 Billionth Pilsener is neither light or heavy.  It has just the right amount of hops, citrus (or not, if you hate citrus) and malt notes.  It will please anyone who rides into town wanting to sample the most highly-touted brew anyone here can tout.  It is an honest Appalachian beer, served in authentic farm-to-table glassware and marketed by people who are paid lower salaries because they live in Western North Carolina but tolerate the low pay because they dig the scene.

The 100 Billionth Pilsener.  A brew that stands apart from all the other brews that say they  stand apart but only manage to stand a step or two away, down the dank dark hall on the way to the restroom.  Unusual.  Imaginary.  The Ale for Y’All.   Holler for it.
