A Light Through the Windows

How fortunate we are to look up from our easy chairs every day and see this romantic work by Charles Auguste Durand (1837-1917), later known as Carolus Duran, a tutor for other painters such as John Singer Sargent.

We don’t know the work’s title or date, but it was probably early in the artist’s career.  My spouse bought it on a whim at a local antique emporium several years ago.  It brightens us.

    Beautiful! And the light streaming through your window panes perfectly highlights the window in the painting. It’s almost like you planned the photo that way! ;~)
