“That’s what faces us, the danger of compromise.”

Said by one muscular man fighting another man over a car (with a little girl inside) in a post-apocalyptic movie I was dreaming this morning.  They were using spiked billy clubs on each other and on the windows of the car.

I woke up right after that line was spoken, so I’m afraid I can’t say who won the fight or what happened to the little girl.  If you can dream up an ending, let me know.

•   “Militant Christian” — 96,500 results.
•   “Militant Israeli” — 28,600 results.
•   “Militant Catholic” — 26,400 results.
•   “Militant Protestant” — 24,400 results.
•   “Militant Buddhist” — 14,300 results.

I see this list as a fear gauge.  I’m surprised that atheists were only in second place.

Our bodies have left sides and right sides.  If you look closely, you will notice a few special places on our bodies that are neither left nor right, but serve to join the two.  For instance, the philtrum, the groove in our upper lip.  The septum between our nostrils.  The sternum from which our ribs emanate.  The spine that supports us all.

The center largely goes unnoticed but without it, left and right fly apart.
