Here is a word puzzle for my literate friends (I do have a few). Starting with the first word in the list below, change one letter at a time to eventually arrive at the last word in the list. Each step along the way must also be a word in the English-speaking world, as befits the subject of this puzzle.

I wasn’t sure about “crump” as a word, but Merriam-Webster seems to agree. Learned something new.
