Mood (2013)      

Mood is the second painting from my days in the River Arts District and also the second of my “map” series.  It was painted with acrylics on an 18-inch by 24-inch by 1.5-inch canvas.  The colors from the front of the canvas carry over to the sides.

This work was inspired by Ratio, which it closely resembles in terms of layout.  While painting Ratio, I had masked off sections of the canvas for reasons I do not now recall.  When I glanced at the canvas with the strips of masking tape, I saw a face with outlines like a stained-glass window.  That was the basis for Mood.
