West Hartford (1971)

Dear Craig,

Sometimes letters, words, names become encasements: places of hiding.  Secret places from which can pour something uninhibited by personality, a mask of the 3rd person neutral — the objective “it” rather than “I.”

Particularly when we do not know which is objective, which is subjective and which is truth… the reader assumes that it is not particularly important or significant.

These are the dying days of 1971.  The people with the truth are very few, Craig.  You are one.  I am happy you are and glad to see you standing alone with your work.
