{"id":4797,"date":"2013-04-22T21:46:04","date_gmt":"2013-04-23T01:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/?p=4797"},"modified":"2022-08-01T07:43:14","modified_gmt":"2022-08-01T11:43:14","slug":"gun-9-11-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/2013\/04\/gun-9-11-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Gun 9-11 Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Update<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Tomorrow, April 23, 2013, will be Gun 9-11 Day in the United States.\u00a0 This is the day of the year, every year, when gun-related deaths in our country equal or exceed the number of victims in the September 11, 2001 attacks.\u00a0 This <a href=\"http:\/\/www.slate.com\/articles\/news_and_politics\/crime\/2012\/12\/gun_death_tally_every_american_gun_death_since_newtown_sandy_hook_shooting.html\">Slate website<\/a> has been keeping count.<\/p>\n<p>The post that follows was originally posted on December 14.\u00a0 Politically, nothing much has changed since then.\u00a0 The gun-fetish lobby controls the money and the conversation.<\/p>\n<p>In light of the Boston bombings and shootings, maybe the FBI should take another look at the trip that the NRA&#8217;s Wayne LaPierre took to that hotbed of Caucasian antipathy to the U.S. government: the state of Texas.\u00a0 LaPierre might have been radicalized there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">_____________________________<\/p>\n<p>With much sadness I propose a new national day of observance &#8212;
