{"id":4599,"date":"2012-11-28T22:21:47","date_gmt":"2012-11-29T03:21:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/?p=4599"},"modified":"2022-08-01T07:43:16","modified_gmt":"2022-08-01T11:43:16","slug":"3-13-26-41-52-and-8","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/2012\/11\/3-13-26-41-52-and-8\/","title":{"rendered":"3, 13, 26, 47, 52 and <font color=\"red\">8<\/font>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>These are the Powerball numbers I would have selected but did not.\u00a0 I expect to be vindicated (and two dollars richer than if I had played the game) come morning.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday Morning Update:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The numbers were 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and <span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">6<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0 As expected, not a match to be had.<\/p>\n<p>The total amount won in yesterday&#8217;s Powerball lottery was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.powerball.com\/pb_home.asp\">$711 million<\/a>, $580 million of which was the six-number jackpot.\u00a0 Since the participating states distribute only <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/11\/27\/powerball-revenue-2012_n_2198483.html\">50 cents of every dollar<\/a> as winnings, this means the total amount spent on Powerball tickets since the last jackpot winner (eight weeks ago) was on the order of $1.5 billion.\u00a0 Total revenue for the year is expected to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2012\/11\/27\/powerball-revenue-2012_n_2198483.html\">$5 billion<\/a>.\u00a0 For comparison, the organization CARE was able to raise <a href=\"http:\/\/www.care.org\/about\/financialinfo\/FY11AuditedFinancialStatements.pdf\">$310 million<\/a> in private support in 2011.\u00a0 Food for thought, if not for the hungry.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>These are the Powerball numbers I would have selected but did not.\u00a0 I expect to be vindicated (and two dollars richer than if I had played the game) come morning.
