{"id":35238,"date":"2025-07-16T14:47:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-16T18:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/?p=35238"},"modified":"2025-07-20T12:22:47","modified_gmt":"2025-07-20T16:22:47","slug":"how-did-i-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/2025\/07\/how-did-i-do\/","title":{"rendered":"How Did I Do?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Back in 2023, I wrote a <a href=\"https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/2023\/01\/your-feedback-is-important-to-me\/\">little ditty<\/a> about the prevalence of after-the-fact surveys and how we get harangued for feedback after nearly every transaction.\u00a0 Unfortunately, it has only gotten worse since then.\u00a0 So a month ago, I finally decided enough was enough and I cut the survey cord.\u00a0 (Snip!)<\/p>\n<p>Since my decision, I have summarily trashed or deleted every &#8220;how did we do&#8221; hounding\u00a0 I&#8217;ve received, including the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u270f\ufe0f \u00a0My annual Blue Cross Medicare patient survey.\u00a0 Blue Cross always starts the process by sending an email asking you to complete the survey online.\u00a0 (It has multiple pages and dozens of questions.)\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t respond in a timely way, they send you a second email.\u00a0 If you still don&#8217;t comply, they send you a hard copy of the survey in the US Mail.\u00a0 And if you don&#8217;t do <em>that<\/em> one, they mail you yet another copy.\u00a0 We are now going to find out what happens after that &#8212; I bet I will get a robo phone call, which I intend to ignore.<\/p>\n<p>\u270f\ufe0f \u00a0An online survey request, followed by a reminder, from the hospital where my x-ray markers were implanted.\u00a0 (It was fine.\u00a0 But no one ever <em>wants<\/em> to be in a hospital, not even the staff.)<\/p>\n<p>\u270f\ufe0f\u00a0 An online survey request, followed by a reminder, from the hospital (a different one) which delivered my hormone-rejection injection.\u00a0 (That was fine too.\u00a0 But see above.)<\/p>\n<p>\u270f\ufe0f\u00a0 Two pester posts from Open Table, asking me to review restaurants we visited using the Open Table reservation system.\u00a0 (What they really want is more data on me.)<\/p>\n<p>\u270f\ufe0f\u00a0 A request from Lowe&#8217;s Home Improvement to take a five-minute survey about our refrigerator delivery experience.\u00a0 (The guys were friendly and their huge truck broke only one tree limb &#8212; there, that took five seconds.)\u00a0 This was followed by a reminder five days later.<\/p>\n<p>\u270f\ufe0f\u00a0 An email, followed by a reminder four days later, from Sam&#8217;s Club, wanting feedback on my recent shopping experience.\u00a0 (Answer:\u00a0 Like always, it involved lots of walking.)<\/p>\n<p>\u270f\ufe0f\u00a0 An email, followed by a reminder just <em>one day<\/em> later, from DirecTV, asking about my interaction with their telephone representative.\u00a0 (Hey, let&#8217;s see if the problem gets fixed in two weeks when the technician shows up.)<\/p>\n<p>You can spend your days filling out surveys or you can just save your energy for the times you have something to complain about.\u00a0 I&#8217;ve opted for the latter and I&#8217;m not looking back.<\/p>\n<p>_____________<\/p>\n<h5>* Even better, let people know in real time what you liked and what you didn&#8217;t and move on.<\/h5>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Back in 2023, I wrote a little ditty about the prevalence of after-the-fact surveys and how we get harangued for feedback after nearly every transaction.\u00a0 Unfortunately, it has only gotten worse since then.\u00a0 So a month ago, I finally decided &hellip;
