She speaks with that half-hearted Ardor<\/p>\n

from her perch in the whiteness of Bangor<\/p>\n

mouthing what she thinks passes for Candor<\/p>\n

with her eye on who might be her next Donor.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

She reigns as our national Equivocator:<\/p>\n

It’s the one thing that makes her a Factor.<\/p>\n

Having failed in her bid to be Governor,<\/p>\n

Maine elected her their main Hesitator.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Lacking creds as a dogged Investigator,<\/p>\n

Susan presents herself as an impartial Juror<\/p>\n

(disregarding the con-job by Kavanaugh)<\/p>\n

and the Senate’s most serious Legislator<\/p>\n

always ‘troubled’  by some gross Misbehavior.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

She’s never been much of a Negotiator<\/p>\n

but simply another shrewd Operator<\/p>\n

in the dress of a centrist Protector<\/p>\n

and the voice of the dullest of Question-ors.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Her true calling was probably a Realtor<\/p>\n

instead of a mealy-mouthed Spin-doctor,<\/p>\n

a half-truth and quarter-truth Tolerator<\/p>\n

whose motives are reliably Ulterior.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Ms. Collins found her niche as a Vacillator.<\/p>\n

So who needs to be a gender Warrior,<\/p>\n

And who needs to be a government X-rayor,<\/p>\n

when you can be a fence-sitting Yea-sayor<\/p>\n

and get elected as Senator Zig-zaggor?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Madame Senate-Or Susan M. Collins<\/p>\n

No relation, no, none at all<\/p>\n

Playing both sides, A to Z, clumsily.<\/p>\n

Maybe the only poem ever written about her<\/p>\n

The mediocre poem she’s long deserved.<\/p>\n
