The bumblebees that stung me\r\n   had a hole\r\nThe bumblebees that stung me\r\n   had a role:\r\nTo defend their nest\r\n   from unwelcome guests\r\nThe bumblebees that stung me\r\n   had a hole.\r\n\r\nThe bumblebees that stung me\r\n   had a hole\r\nTheir hole was by the front door\r\n   near a pole\r\nOne of us boys\r\n   had this idea\r\n(Don't recall who, \r\n   possibly me?)\r\nTo have a little fun\r\n   with that bee hole.\r\n\r\nThe bumblebees aflight\r\n   had work to do\r\nWe sat and watched them\r\n    fly out in and through\r\nClever boys,\r\n    we played our trick:\r\nWe dug a fake hole\r\n   with a stick\r\nAnd covered up the hole\r\n   they were accustomed to.\r\n\r\nWhat fun it was to watch\r\n   the bees explore\r\nThey couldn't find the way\r\n   to their front door\r\nCould not get in,\r\n   could not get out,\r\nThose bumblebees\r\n    flew all about\r\nWe boys had won our battle\r\n   -- not the war.\r\n\r\nWe eventually grew tired\r\n    of our game\r\nThe boys went home for lunch,\r\n   I did the same.\r\nAs I walked toward\r\n   our kitchen door\r\nOne bumblebee\r\n   gave me what-for:\r\nShe stung me on my ear\r\n   and made me pay.\r\n\r\nI yelled real loud and\r\n   ran in to my mommy\r\nShe flicked the bee away\r\n   and tried to calm me\r\nI didn't tell her\r\n   of our game,\r\nOur craven plot,\r\n   what it entailed,\r\nAnd so my mom felt\r\n   very, very sorry.\r\n\r\nBut lest you think that\r\n   nature had its way\r\nA garden hose was\r\n   summoned the next day\r\nDown the hole it went\r\n   flooding out the residents\r\nSo the bumblebees that stung me\r\n   went away.\r\n<\/pre>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
