When  in short, you have only your emotions to sell.&#8221;<\/em> &#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikiquote.org\/wiki\/Talk:F._Scott_Fitzgerald\">F. Scott Fitzgerald<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once upon a time, we had leaders who transcended partisanship and self-interest:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired, signifies in the final sense a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.&#8221; <\/em>&#8212; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usnews.com\/opinion\/blogs\/robert-schlesinger\/2011\/09\/30\/the-origins-of-that-eisenhower-every-gun-that-is-made-quote\">Dwight D. Eisenhower<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On the drawbacks of being a smart person in America:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;There is a cult of ignorance in the United States, and there always has  been.
