{"id":15712,"date":"2017-07-29T19:09:27","date_gmt":"2017-07-29T23:09:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/?p=15712"},"modified":"2022-08-01T07:42:56","modified_gmt":"2022-08-01T11:42:56","slug":"what-you-need-to-know-about-the-eclipse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/2017\/07\/what-you-need-to-know-about-the-eclipse\/","title":{"rendered":"What You Need to Know About the Eclipse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are few people in the world who are not aware of this year&#8217;s total eclipse, as it affects not only the United States but nearly every square inch of the planet.\u00a0 For those who have not yet been informed &#8212; this would include Fox News viewers &#8212; I offer a brief rundown.<\/p>\n<p>The phenomenon at hand is unlike any other eclipse most of us have experienced.\u00a0 There are lunar eclipses, which take place when the moon passes through the Earth&#8217;s shadow, and there are solar eclipses, which occur when the moon passes between us and the sun.\u00a0 This eclipse, however, is caused by a massive body whose hovering presence over Earth casts a planet-wide shadow &#8212; the astronomers I know call it The Total Eclipse of Trump.*<\/p>\n<p>The Total Eclipse of Trump started in November 2016.\u00a0 Astronomers cannot predict when it will end.\u00a0 Its path of totality over the face of the Earth is shown in the illustration below:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/wp-content\/uploads\/path-of-totality1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-15764 size-large\" style=\"margin-bottom: 24px;\" src=\"http:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/wp-content\/uploads\/path-of-totality1-640x420.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/wp-content\/uploads\/path-of-totality1-640x420.jpg 640w, https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/wp-content\/uploads\/path-of-totality1-300x197.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chcollins.com\/100Billion\/wp-content\/uploads\/path-of-totality1.jpg 1132w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a>Unlike lunar and solar eclipses, the Trump shadow traverses the surface of the planet several times a week.\u00a0 Its path of totality &#8212; the locations where one&#8217;s sense of reality is completely obliterated &#8212; wanders from day to day, according to well-known laws of physics and the unknown whims of Trump.<\/p>\n<p>As shown in the illustration above, the Trump shadow touches every continent and almost every land mass, save for the islands of Madagascar (off the coast of Africa) and Svalbard (in the Arctic Circle, north of Norway).\u00a0 And even those remote isles are now threatened by sea ice and rising tides, thanks to the Eclipse.<\/p>\n<p>The Total Eclipse of Trump has not only darkened our skies (and everything else), it has redefined normalcy.\u00a0 The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services says that the\u00a0 Eclipse will improve our health, once it causes the health insurance system to implode.
