The Not-So-Quicker Picker-Upper

I yearn for the days when my blog may once again turn its attention to something other than the disaster that is Donald Trump.  I cannot begin to tell you how ashamed I am that this man, the leader of my government, presumes to speak for me.  His words and actions embarrass me to the marrow.

The trope “Ugly American” originally described those Americans who traveled overseas and imposed their arrogant expectations of service, privilege and obeisance upon the peoples and places they visited.  Trump has managed to bring the Ugly American home, modelling for us how Americans can be ugly to each other.  This he has nailed.

Seems to be infectious. We are having (obviously relatively trivial) trouble with our County Councillor, who bungled a simple issue resulting in many of the village finding their addresses had changed – and is fighting hard to defend and protect his error.

The commonality is: he thinks he was elected to rule, not to serve.

Could be worse. Duterte? Maduro? Any -istan? Kim?

Excellent observation. One must first know how to serve, before they can lead. trump was chosen despite his lack of service or leadership. The frightening thing is that it WILL be worse, if the people who comprise the checks and balances don’t do their jobs and put a stop to the madness and chaos. They are choosing party over country.

Throwing paper towels to people in need in Puerto Rico. How insulting.
And how insulting that all this time later, we still have not provided enough help. Perhaps the prez is waiting for property values to plummet further before he goes in and scoops up most of the island for a song.
